CUNY Awards Honorary Degrees to Four Longtime University Supporters

The City University of New York Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez awarded honorary degrees to Jeffrey H. and Shari L. Aronson, Ronay Menschel and Anthony E. Meyer, four civic and philanthropic leaders who each have made myriad contributions to New York City. Each honoree has distinguished themselves as a major supporter of CUNY, providing their support and expertise to ensure that students are able to focus on their education and prepare for successful post-graduation careers.

“We have long benefitted from the leadership and generosity of Jeffrey and Shari Aronson, Ronay Menschel and Anthony Meyer, all of whom have long contributed to the growth and success of New York,” said CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez. “They each have played a key role in ensuring the success of our students throughout their time at the University and after they graduate, so we are privileged to be able to recognize them in this way as we simultaneously celebrate our remarkable Class of 2025.”

Distinct from honorary degrees awarded by individual CUNY colleges, University honorary degrees are conferred by the Chancellor after his direct recommendation. Chancellor Matos Rodríguez conferred the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees on behalf of the University at three CUNY commencement ceremonies over the past two weeks.
